SVK passes the test at this school in Yass

Yass Public School needed a major roof replacement in 2019. The Slate Roofing Company, contracted to undertake this project , reached out to Premier Slate for a product befitting the splendour of this 140 year-old regional NSW institution, whilst meeting the strict budget and construction schedule.

Yass Public School was originally opened in January 1879, establishing it as one of the first schools in the district. It is situated on the northern side of the town and enjoys beautiful grounds and picturesque views of the river and hills. The beautiful historic buildings are reflective of the school’s rich history in education in the district, and accommodate around 320 primary students at the time of writing.

In considering a roofing product for this project it was important to factor this rich history into the equation.

With the look of natural slates and the top quality of fibre cement, SVK fibre cement slate put its hand up as the right choice.

Compressed fibre-cement slates offer a man-made alternative to natural slate. Manufactured in Belgium by SVK using the best quality fibres, they are finished with a double layer of acrylic based coating. This means they are highly resistant to moss growth whilst offering low water absorption, for enhanced durability.

Premier Slate supplied SVK slates in a diamond configuration to maintain the same look and feel of the original roof, however they are available in various sizes, colours and finishes.

The material is light and extremely easy to mount. In addition, SVK slates are dimensionally stable, which saves a great deal of time during installation.
